North Orange County Family YMCA Holds
Groundbreaking for Facility Renovation Project
The North Orange County Family YMCA held a groundbreaking ceremony and reception on August 23 for the $3.7-million renovation of its facility in Fullerton. The theme of the project is "Participate. Renovate. Celebrate."
The North Orange County Family YMCA offers a comprehensive resource for families and children in its service area of Brea, Buena Park, Fullerton, La Habra and the surrounding communities. The renovation will include:
- Expanded healthy lifestyle area
- Improved gymnasium
- Kids zone
- Expanded youth sports
- New aerobic studio
- New outdoor lap pool and spa
- Locker room upgrades
- Revamped parking lot
- ADA code requirements
- Energy efficiency
"Our North Orange County Family YMCA is a vital part of the community that touches the lives of thousands of families and children each year in the areas we serve," said Jim Lapak, Executive Director,North Orange County Family YMCA. "We are very excited about the opportunity to make this facility even more valuable to our members."

Attendees included Clare McKenna, the new branch Executive Director who has moved from the Yorba Linda/Placentia branch to take the reins from outgoing Executive Director Jim Lapak.
Activities for the groundbreaking ceremony included special guest speakers, a parade by members from various YMCA programs, and refreshments.
