Special Event for New Santa Ana YMCA Capital Project
Honors Major Donors and Shares Campaign Progress

Our Capital Campaign Kickoff and Recognition Reception for the new Santa Ana YMCA on September 20 at Crevier Classic Cars in Costa Mesa brought together a wide spectrum of business, government and community leaders. These individuals support the vision of building a new facility to make YMCA programs easily accessible to the youth and families of Santa Ana and the surrounding area.

Attendees were introduced to Jeff McBride, newly appointed President and CEO for the YMCA of Orange County. Santa Ana YMCA Executive Director Jon Voget provided an overview of the project's evolution to date. And special recognition included the Segerstrom family who donated the 2.5-acre site, the Van Cleve Foundation Trust which made a $4-million gift, the Sares-Regis Group which donated $500,000, and others who have helped lay a strong base for this vital resource.

A highlight of the evening was a heartfelt address by Claudia Acosta, a senior at Saddleback High School, describing the unique value she has found through the YMCA Youth & Government program and the exciting benefits that having a new facility nearby will bring to youth in the area. The program concluded with remarks from Santa Ana Mayor Miguel Pulido on the impact this project will have for the children and families in his city.

The evening achieved our goals of building awareness for the project and providing motivation for additional participation in the capital campaign. Thanks to all who attended.
