Children to Gather for International Reading Event

Families are invited to visit Pretend City on Oct. 8 to participate in Read for the Record. On that day, children will gather to read the same book, on the same day, in communities all over the world.

This year's book is The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle. Pretend City has partnered with the Early Literacy Program, a supported partner of the Children and Families Commission of Orange County, to reach out to children and families in Orange County.

Readings will take place throughout the day with special prizes and activities for kids. Families who bring gently used books for the Early Literacy Program to the museum from now until Oct. 8 will be entered to win a $100 Pretend City store gift certificate.
