Percentix Profile:
Thayer Flynn
Senior Consultant
Q1: What's your daily function at Percentix?
A1: I specialize in Hyperion Planning & Essbase Applications and every day I am engaged in some phase of the 4 D's: (Diagnose, Design, Deliver, and Deploy).
Q2: How long have you worked at Percentix?
A2: I became a member of the Percentix team in August 2008.
Q3: How does your experience and expertise benefit clients?
A3: I speak the same language as our clients. I have a strong corporate financial background with many years of analytic experience (I used to be an "excel jockey") and have also served in a managerial role. This background allows me to actively engage the client on neutral ground, deciphering their needs and translating them into technical requirements. Most people are either technical or non-technical; I take pride in being able to cross over into both worlds.
Q4: What do you like most about Percentix's clients?
A4: I love the fact that every client is different. Each one is diverse, even if they fall under the same industry, and that keeps me on my toes. I learn something new every day.
Q5: What do you like most about Percentix?
A5: My fellow team members! Percentix has such a diverse pool of talent and I feel fortunate to be able to work with such great people.
Q6: What do you like to do in your spare time when you're not helping clients? Any hobbies?
A6: My brother has just launched a CrossFit Athletic training facility and I have been engaged lending oversight and helping where need be. I try to stay in shape following CrossFit regime either at my brother's facility or on the road. I enjoy surfing, snowboarding (just got back from 2 weeks in Switzerland and experienced 1 foot of fresh powder in Davos), mountain biking, and hiking.
I also love to build and fix things. Everyone always says that I am tinkering on something. I have done full kitchen and bath remodels and love taking a project from start to finish (very similar to what I do with Percentix).
Q7: If you could travel anywhere around the world, where would you go? Why?
A7: I am always mulling this one over in my head, since I definitely have the "travel bug." I am fortunate and have had the opportunity to travel extensively in Europe and other exotic places including Myanmar (Burma), Indonesia, and Morocco.
So where next? I want to travel to Tibet, Nepal, Kashmir, Bhutan, Laos, Cambodia, Africa (Kilimanjaro), Peru, Chile, Nicaragua, Belize, and the Andaman Islands Ð and the list keeps growing! I love visiting exotic places and the thrill of exploring somewhere that most people only read about in magazines.
It looks like I will have some adventures in Europe - my girlfriend is currently living in Switzerland, so I will be traveling there on and off the next year.
Q8: If you could meet anyone throughout history, who would it be? Why?
A8: Ben Franklin: I have always admired him and would love to sit down and hear his thoughts on the world of today; from politics to inventions. Is the America he helped create, and his visions of it in the future, the America we have today?
Q9: What's your favorite TV show or movie?
A9: I am avid viewer of CNBC. I love the roller coaster of the stock markets. I also watch Property Ladder, the Big Idea, and Lost. I have always been a fan of Shawshank Redemption, A River Runs Thru It (I have a wild younger brother and was born in Montana), Crash, and The Usual Suspects.
Q10: Where did you grow up?
A10: I grew up in San Diego and was very fortunate to have been able to live very close to Balboa park and the beautiful beaches of La Jolla.
