Traffic Switch
 


The first of four "football" traffic switches occurred at the Brookhurst bridge in mid April. A "football" traffic switch is necessary on all of the four full replacement bridges, Brookhurst, Euclid, Harbor and Magnolia. Once the outer lanes of the bridges have been built, traffic is pushed to the outside of the bridge onto the new travel lanes. Safety barriers are then placed on the inside lanes, in a shape similar to a football. The inside lanes are then reconstructed to match the new outer lanes of the bridge.
