This is a Guntert Zimmermen S850 paving machine. It has the capability of placing 400 cubic yards of concrete per hour which is 350 lane-feet of freeway. The machine weighs over 72 tons and can place about 500-600 linear meters of a 2-lane freeway widening in one night of work, or one-third of a mile.

About 50,000 cubic yards or nearly 16 lane-miles, of Portland cement Concrete Pavement (PCCP) have been placed so far on the project.
