“We appreciate the governor’s commitment to building California’s transportation system,” said OCTA Vice Chairman Art Brown. “Today’s announcement from the state means that we can keep our commitment to restore our county taxpayer funds that now may be used to deliver other much-needed transportation improvements. In fact, Orange County has many more transportation needs than available funds to deliver them.”
One of those transportation needs is widening the Santa Ana Freeway (I-5) from Buena Park to the Orange County / Los Angeles county line. The $251-million construction project will build four additional lanes and will be completed late 2009.
