Welcome

The economy continues to show mixed signs. Some indicate the potential stirrings of a recovery, yet unemployment and other indicators remain negative. This is a time when behavior and attitude can have a tangible effect on the environment. Cautious optimism and measured confidence are the order of the day. Since attitudes can be catching, our ability to provide mutual support, innovative ideas and a positive view toward the future may well influence the pace of a recovery.

A vital aspect of building for the future is preparing our children to become educated and responsible citizens. That is why we are so excited about our role in helping launch Pretend City Children's Museum in Irvine. An incredible group of people has worked for nearly 10 years to make this unique educational resource for young children a reality. Today, the museum was unveiled in a special ceremony attended by some 50 media representatives. The highlight of the event was presentation of the keys to the City to Kobe Bryant and his family. You can read more below about this milestone for Southern California. Click Here for Photo Gallery

Kobe Bryant Helps Celebrate Pretend City Grand Opening

Confetti was flying, fire truck sirens were blaring, kids were singing, and NBA star Kobe Bryant and his family today joined more than 250 business leaders, dignitaries, members of the media and museum guests in celebrating the much anticipated grand opening of Pretend City Children's Museum in Irvine.

Bryant, his wife Vanessa and his family were given the "keys to the City" and honored as the first family to enter the museum during a special ceremony which featured appearances by Bill H. Lyon, Board Chair, Pretend City; Pam Shambra, Pretend City President; U.S. Congressman John Campbell; Orange County Supervisor Bill Campbell; Irvine Mayor Sukhee Kang; and Bill Habermehl, Orange County Superintendent of Schools and Pretend City board member.

In additional, a special edition T3 Series electric vehicle donated by T3 Motion, Inc., sporting Lakers colors was autographed by Bryant and will be auctioned online, with all proceeds benefiting the museum. Following the ceremony, guests and members of the media were invited to view all of the exciting exhibits the museum has to offer.

The celebration marked the realization of a dream by a dedicated board and generous donors who had a vision to revolutionize the way young children learn about the interconnectedness of their community. The museum's board of directors includes a distinguished group of "next generation" area leaders, with a young average age of 40 and high average gift of $246,000.

The 28,000-square-foot museum offers a unique combination of education and recreation. Designed for children ranging from infant to eight years old, the museum comprises 15 interactive exhibits such as an art studio, amphitheater, grocery store, farm, construction site, marina and beach. The museum educates children about how the real world works though hands-on role playing and exciting activities that attract the children in a new way.

Gubernatorial Candidate Whitman Speaks to Hispanic 100

Meg Whitman, former CEO of eBay and candidate for governor of California, recently was the special guest for a gathering in Orange County of the Hispanic 100. The group, based in Southern California, is one of the country's leading assemblages of Hispanic leaders. Whitman's visit gave her and the distinguished gathering a chance to interact to share perspectives on the challenges facing the state.

In the past few weeks, Whitman has also spoken to the Gold Coast Hispanic Business Council in Ventura, the San Joaquin County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, the California Latino Water Coalition in Fresno, and the Republican National Hispanic Assembly in San Gabriel Valley.

Whitman says including Latinos in her campaign outreach is crucial to understanding what Californians face every day at home, at school and at work and to helping her forge solutions. Latinos make up about 20 percent of the electorate, and about 37 percent of the state's population -- a figure nearly doubled from 30 years ago.

"It's something that we have to be successful at because this is a very rapidly growing, influential group in California politics," Whitman said. "I want to involve Latinos in this campaign in a way that hasn't been seen in Republican politics in a long time. It is a priority of mine and I'm very serious about it."

KCOMM Launches Internet Marketing Sites

KCOMM launched three new Internet marketing sites in August for SundriedTomatoCafe.com, MannyMedrano.com, and T3Motion.com. These sites focus on making information accessible through a user friendly and efficient interface.

SundriedTomatoCafe.com enables users to browse through the restaurant's menu, view hours and locations, and make reservations online. A "reviews" and "newsletter" section will soon also be available. MannyMedrano.com provides a portal through which users can read about and contact award-winning TV broadcast journalist Medrano. This site's layout is clean, yet content-rich. Finally, T3Motion.com showcases the T3 Motion green products, including all-electric micro cars and innovative vehicles for law enforcement. The site is not only informative, but it provides a brilliant photo gallery. These sites are designed to be easily navigated and effective tools for interacting with and informing potential customers.
