Hello,

We are witnessing one of the most challenging periods in recent, and not so recent, memory. A Presidential campaign with more twists and turns than a Formula 1 race course. The worst economic crisis in a generation. And serial hurricanes hitting the Gulf Coast.

But a somewhat dark macro view is balanced by the opportunities we see around us to make a positive impact. For example, we are excited about our involvement with the YMCA's Youth & Government program that touches thousands of high schoolers each year. As well as TACA, Talk About Curing Autism, that is hosting a celebrity charity event featuring Jenny McCarthy and Lance Armstrong on October 3, 2008. For more information please visit: http://www.anteupforautism.org. Plus, we're very pleased to be getting involved with Miracles for Kids, benefitting Children's Hospital of Orange County and the Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation. The organization is holding its Seventh Annual Night of Miracles at the St. Regis Resort & Spa on Saturday, September 27, 2008. For more information please visit www.miraclesforkids.org.

The application of technology to improve communication between government and its constituencies has become a key focus for us. Also on the technology front, we invite you to visit the new website for the Internet Marketing Association and become a part of this dynamic community.

Of course, we all need to make time for recreation. Recent Southern California concerts included Kid Rock and Maroon 5 were perfect for cutting loose a bit.

As we confront our challenges as a society, I encourage everyone to discover opportunities for making a positive difference individually and as businesspeople. And have some fun along the way.

Sincerely,

Sinan Kanatsiz

Fusion of Government and Technology Is Crucial
KCOMM Leads in Providing Innovative Solutions

In many aspects, the use of new technology in the government sector has grown at a snail's pace. For years and years, government for the most part has stayed true to its traditional "technology" in providing its range of services and communicating to the masses - AND, equally, when the masses communicate with their elected leaders. But, as singer Bob Dylan said, "The times are a-changin'" (and they continue to change!). KCOMM has been ahead of the curve in the fusion of government and technology.

KCOMM has become actively involved in providing its clients with innovative technology to enhance their public relations, advocacy and marketing initiatives. For years, the firm has helped its government and corporate clientele reach their constituents through such innovations as e-newsletters, like the Orange County Transportation Authority's (OCTA) Costa Mesa Freeway (SR-22) Improvement Project newsletter. Additionally, KCOMM helps its clients continually provide elected leaders and other public officials with crucial information about important projects and initiatives. The agency has unparalleled expertise in designing and implementing webinars, websites, e-newsletters, online surveys, video streaming, e-mail invitations and announcements, and other web and e-mail based solutions. These are the many ways KCOMM continues to create new vision in bringing government and technology together.

Google and T-Mobile Team Up
The T-Mobile G1, or the first phone with Google's Android mobile operating software, was officially announced today.

The first cell phone running Google Inc.'s mobile software looks something like Apple Inc.'s iPhone and has a large touch screen, but it also packs a trackball, a slide-out keyboard and easy access to Google's e-mail and mapping programs.

Google made its debut as a cell phone software provider Tuesday at an event where wireless carrier T-Mobile said it will begin selling the G1 phone for $179 with a two-year contract. The device hits U.S. stores Oct. 22 and heads to Britain in November and other European countries early next year.

"The T-Mobile G1 is our opportunity in the U.S. to accelerate the mass adoption of the mobile Web, by unleashing Google innovation with a unique software experience that mobilizes the Google services hundreds of millions of consumers rely on every day,'' said Cole Brodman, T-Mobile's chief technology and innovation officer.

Main Benefits include:
  • Google Maps Street View
  • Communicating on the Go
  • Embracing User-Generated Content
  • Music at Your Fingertips
  • Android Market
IMA Update:
Is Apple Becoming the New Microsoft?

Not long ago, Apple was just a niche PC maker selling to diehard fans. But this summer, Apple's market cap surged past Google's, making it the financial king of Silicon Valley. The iconic iPod dominates its market. iTunes is now the No. 1 music retailer in America, ahead of Wal-Mart. And the iPhone is the No. 3 smart phone in the U.S. Apple now controls entire ecosystems. Just as Microsoft controls both operating system and applications, Apple owns popular hardware platforms and operates the only store that can sell music, movies and software for them. Apple has started looking like what Microsoft was 10 years ago a company that so controls certain market segments that smaller competitors can survive only by living on its scraps or staying out of its way.
