Welcome,

Welcome to the September issue of the KCOMM Communications Alert.

The last few weeks have been busy indeed. We brought elected officials to a client's facilities to see sophisticated high technology firsthand. We're proud to report an extension of our Public Affairs practice with an engagement from T-Mobile. A corporate video project offered an opportunity to learn about and showcase a fascinating product with an intriguing production process. A very special event is planned for January on the future of education in the 21st century, featuring another client. And we launched a new web site for the agency. So how do we get it all done? Well, it's been a very rewarding challenge. Don't miss my remarks on stress management.

I look forward to your feedback and working with you in the years to come. When you have a moment, please check out our new website, www.kanatsiz.com.

Generation NeXt Event on Education in the 21st Century Set for January 10
Orange Lutheran High School and University of Phoenix To Co-Host

The University of Phoenix and Lutheran High School of Orange County have begun to launch a new online education platform for the High School demographic. Currently the University of Phoenix has over 400,000 online university students and over 50,000 online community college students. To compete with rapidly growing economies like India and China, the United States must take a highly pro-active role in education. And the power of the Internet is a primary medium to address this issue.

Keynote speaker at this historic Generation NeXt event will include officials from the University of Phoenix, who will share their expertise on the current state of Internet-based education and its future growth into the nation's high school system. In addition, Dr. Ken Ellwein, Executive Director of Lutheran High School will present his perspective on the role of online education with the goals and benefits of the groundbreaking Orange Lutheran Online program. Elected officials and high profile community leaders will be in attendance.

Lunch will be offered and a non-alcohol bar will be available.

New KCOMM Web Site Positions Agency as Change Agent for Clients
Unique Integrated Offering Builds on Four Pillars of Service

A brand new web site for KCOMM debuted recently. With a very contemporary graphic look and feel, the site is designed around the theme "Helping our clients leverage change." In a global environment that is evolving more rapidly than ever, it is imperative that any organization (corporate, non-profit, educational, government) be prepared to understand and respond to shifting challenges.

The new site embodies KCOMM's four pillars of service - Public Relations/Affairs, Internet Marketing, Event Marketing, and Relationships - as a unique offering designed to build long-term connections with highly cost-effective strategies built to reach objectives and achieve results. Profiles of capabilities in each core discipline are provided along with associated support services such as advertising, direct marketing, sales promotion, and video/multimedia. Information is also provided on some of the key strategic advisors who periodically provide expert counsel to the agency.

We invite you to visit the new site and welcome your feedback.

KCOMM Creates New Corporate Video for Earthrise Nutritionals
Spirulina Production Process and Science Lab Highlighted

Earthrise Nutritionals is the pioneer and leading producer of a green "superfood" called Spirulina. A blue-green algae, Spirulina offers a powerful blend of antioxidants, protein, essential fatty acid, phytonutrients and iron from a single source. The product is available in its basic form as well as formulations designed to address specific needs. It is sold at health and nutrition stores, drug stores and specialty grocers worldwide. It is also incorporated into a variety of drinks, snacks and other supplements by major food and beverage companies. Spirulina is grown in 30 carefully maintained ponds at the Earthrise farm in Southern California's Imperial Valley, then processed and packaged in a tightly controlled operation.

KCOMM recently created a 15-minute video presentation on the benefits of Spirulina, the 25-year roots of the company, the unique production process from ponds to pills or powder, and the sophisticated scientific laboratory behind the quality of the product. The video was produced in conjunction with Jeff Cole Productions of Orange, CA.

Some Advice for Clients, Friends and Associates of the Dangers of Stress
Stress Management Increases Productivity and Saves Lives

I'm living proof of the advice I'm about to give you. Most of us know that high levels of stress are hard to deal with and impact our ability to function well. High levels of stress tend to deteriorate our good judgment and can lead to poor impulse control. Stress is primarily caused when there are more demands in our life than resources to meet those demands.

Stress-related mental health issues are a major concern in the workplace. A 2003 report from Metlife indicated that 55% of their claims were related to stress, causing depression or anxiety related disorders. This report concluded that U.S. employers lose close to $344 billion dollars each year due to lost productively, absenteeism and medical fees.

Stress management skills can be essential to becoming more productive, healthier, and improving relationships with others. Stress management can also reduce liability for your company and increase productivity, not to mention create a much happier workforce. Learning stress management is often achieved through training from a professional. A good person to talk to about this is Ari Novick, Ph.D. I personally have followed his guidance and have learned many techniques to reduce stress, increase work performance and live a happier life.
