Kanatsiz Meets with Governor :.
Discussion Focuses on Critical Issues for Success
KCOMM CEO Sinan Kanatsiz recently joined the Governor for cigars and conversation related to infrastructure, education and technology. In the near future, Kanatsiz will be working with the Governor directly on projects related to improving California's highways and infrastructure through corporate marketing dollars. In addition, Kanatsiz spoke with the Governor about the importance of technology in the classroom. He highlighted the use of the Internet to accelerate the quality of education and used the University of Phoenix's new www.axiacollege.com as an example.
Kanatsiz is leading an online education initiative that involves the University of Phoenix as well as Lutheran High School Online (based in Orange). He believes in order to compete with superpowers like India and China, the U.S. must accelerate its use of the Internet beginning in middle school.
"Look at the classrooms these days. All the students seem to care about is running home and getting on MySpace.com," Kanatsiz observed. "We need to give them the same fun and excitement about doing their homework. The Internet is the most proactive medium to address this disconnect."
Gen NeXt Welcomes Steve Poizner :.
Insurance Commissioner Candidate Addresses His Priorities for California
Steve Poizner, a civic-minded inventor and entrepreneur, visited with Generation NeXt last Thursday evening in Los Angeles. Steve is the founder of SnapTrack, a highly successful Silicon Valley company that developed breakthrough technology enabling emergency services to pinpoint cell phone calls and save lives. In 2001 Steve was tapped to serve as a White House Fellow in Washington, D.C., arriving only days before the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Now he's running for Insurance Commissioner of the State of California where he will employ tough business skills and strong beliefs in the competitive free market system and increased consumer choice and protection to stamp out fraud, reduce insurance rates, and benefit Californians across the state. Discussion included the role of insurance for the next generation, California's infrastructure system, the Internet and education.
KCOMM Supports Online Education Initiative :.
University of Phoenix and Local Orange Lutheran Online Take Leadership Role
There is a global discussion underway on education and the need for the U.S. to be proactive in order to compete long-term with countries like India and China. In contrast with the traditional education system bureaucracy, the Internet offers a dynamic, flexible, powerful and proactive approach that can help us compete internationally. With Internet services like Myspace.com boasting over 122 million users and growing by 212,000 every day, the Internet is fast becoming a key topic in the debate over quality of education. These same kids are chomping at the bit to go to school online so they can have more time for other productive things with more control over their personal schedules.
The University of Phoenix is a global leader in providing online education programs. They have recently introduced a new two-year online curriculum. And they are providing infrastructure and marketing support for Lutheran High School of Orange County that operates a very innovative online high school program (Orange Lutheran Online) available to anyone virtually worldwide. The momentum is building quickly for these kinds of programs, and we are very pleased to be working with both the University of Phoenix and Orange Lutheran Online to help expand these exciting efforts as the leaders in online education.
KCOMM CEO Joins SBA National Council :.
Kanatsiz Appointed by President George W. Bush to U.S. Small Business Administration's National Advisory Council
The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) recently announced the appointment of Orange County entrepreneur Sinan Kanatsiz to its National Advisory Council. Kanatsiz, founder and CEO of KCOMM, a San Clemente-based Public Relations, Public Affairs and Internet Marketing firm, received the appointment due to his community involvement, measurable business accomplishments and Internet industry foresight. His two-year term will end in March 2008.
"It is an honor to be a Presidential appointee," said Kanatsiz. "The issues I'm most passionate about include family, education and technology. As a member of the SBA, I look forward to supporting programs that are in line with my personal and professional philosophies."
"Sinan is the perfect individual for this position. His business success, political understanding and entrepreneurial foresight will give the SBA a great perspective," said Mario Rodriguez, past vice chairman of the California Republican Party. "I recommended Sinan due to his leadership within Orange County."

Workplace Anger Management Can Yield Productivity and Peace of Mind
Stress comes at us from many angles - work, family, money, traffic. In today's fast-paced world, workplace stress management training is on the rise. It is quickly becoming one of the most recognized methods for effectively helping individuals learn to manage and control anger, stress, hostility and aggression as well as increase awareness in skills that can produce more positive outcomes. Stress is a normal human emotion. However, if it is not expressed appropriately, it can have devastating and lasting affects on relationships.
Employees behaving in stressful or hostile ways towards other employees is unacceptable in a work environment and can ultimately cost organizations thousands, even millions, of dollars in lost productivity, lawsuits, and decreased morale. An effective anger management program focuses on skills in stress management, forgiveness, empathy, expectation management, improved judgment, control, positive self-talk, calming skills, and assertive communication. Workplace stress management programs are both a cost savings to corporations and a necessary tool for improving the workplace environment. There are a number of companies that offer this kind of training. You should be able to find one that fits with your management philosophy, type of organization, and specific needs.
A good resource for stress management is Ari Novick, check out his website at: www.ajnovickgroup.com.
