Students and parents often talk about their excitement in finding our online school. We consistently hear that it is such a great fit for so many students. Everyone involved in our school is focused on individual student success.
As with any school, student achievement is directly linked to the frequency, quality and consistency of their work. With our second semester underway, it is a good time to highlight some tried and true tips for supporting student success in an online environment:
- Log in to school every day, Monday-Friday. Consistent, daily attendance keeps students engaged and helps them stay current with required course work.
- Attend class via Elluminate. If students are unable to attend during the live sessions, they can easily review recorded sessions.
- Keep current on all assignments in all classes. A time management or calendar system can help with this.
- Get to know teachers and iMentors. They are here to help, so keep communication open with this valuable support team.
- Build school engagement by joining clubs. Plus, participate in activities like study groups, field trips and discussion boards.
- Ask for help when help is needed. Use the SMARTHINKING tutoring service, and reach out to teachers and iMentors.
- Check e-mail regularly. Watch for important parent and student communications from your school.
- Don't miss state and standardized testing sessions. These tests are an important gauge of student progress and some are mandatory for graduation.
- Contribute to an environment of support. Help fellow students and promote good study habits.
We look forward to sharing the many joys of celebrating student success at the end of the semester. Our entire school team is available to help and support each student in achieving his or her dreams. It is a common goal that we are proud to share.
