[Girls & Boys Town]

Mark your calendar for Saturday, August 5, and the 3rd Annual Girls and Boys Town of Southern California Spirit of Youth Gala at the Island Hotel in Newport Beach (formerly the Four Seasons). The event will feature dinner, special guests, an award presentation, spectacular auction, and live entertainment in a celebration of hope and giving.

Special honoree, Lennar Homes, will be presented with the 2006 Spirit of Youth Award for its commitment to at-risk youth in Los Angeles County. The award was created to recognize and honor works, words, actions or examples that have had a profoundly positive impact on the lives and dreams of America's youth. Last year's Spirit of Youth Award winners were Jim and Jane Barton of Dove Canyon.

As Builder Captain of the new Girls and Boys Town of Southern California shelter near Compton, Lennar Homes generously made a $1-million contribution toward the project, due for completion around year-end. Lennar Homes has worked for many years on behalf of children and families to make certain they have somewhere safe to call home and to create hope for a better life.

In addition, alumnus Joseph will also speak about his life-changing experiences while at Girls and Boys Town. A troubled young man when he first arrived at the Trabuco Canyon campus, he will be the first in his family since his grandmother to graduate from high school and the first to attend college.

Proceeds will go directly to support Girls and Boys Town of Southern California's Residential Long Term Facility Services, Short Term Emergency Shelter and Assessment Centers, Family Based Services, and After Care Program.
