In The News: Girls and Boys Town Helps Families Focus on Togetherness, Safety for the Holidays

Girls and Boys Town of Southern California celebrated 15 years of working to keep children and families together within the home at its holiday gathering at Vanguard University in Costa Mesa on December 15. More than 100 area family members of varied backgrounds and cultures shared in holiday festivities, gifts and reflection.

Families spoke about their diverse holiday traditions and reflected on their successes in the Girls and Boys Town Family Based Services Program. In addition, Santa made a special appearance, bearing gifts donated by Canon Business Solutions and Toys for Tots.

"The goal of our Family-Based Services program, which is the first program we offered to the community in Southern California, is to keep families together and safe," said Keith Diederich, President and CEO of Girls and Boys Town of Southern California. "These festivities symbolize family togetherness Ð a value which remains central in our program Ð and allow our families to reflect on the significance of the relationships in their lives."

This was the second time families from Girls and Boys Town's Family-Based Services program have gathered for the holidays.
