What does the transverse sensitivity specification mean in an accelerometer data sheet? Transverse sensitivity is the sensitivity of the accelerometer at 90 degrees to the sensitive axis of the sensor. If you were to refer to the conventional sensitivity in the sensitive axis direction as axial sensitivity, transverse sensitivity is the sensitivity at 90 degrees to that.

Drop shock testing measures the acceleration of an object when dropped onto a hard surface by characterizing the acceleration levels generated when an accelerometer is dropped onto a rigid surface. Similar dynamic responses can then be inferred to the object on which the accelerometer is mounted.
