Calibration Lab Renovation Decreases Turnaround Time to 3 Days

The Endevco sensor calibration lab can now provide three-day turnaround on accelerometer, pressure transducer and shock sensor calibrations for domestic U.S. customers. The new calibration area provides rapid response for NIST-traceable calibration certificates for shock, vibration and pressure sensors and microphones from 0.01Hz to 500Hz as well as POP calibrations up to 10,000g. Endevco can also provide high-frequency calibration up to 20kHz with resonance search up to 50kHz, leading the industry in accuracy and reliability.

Ask the Experts

I want to measure linear acceleration (~10g, DC to 20Hz) on a rail vehicle. From looking at your range of accelerometers, either a capacitive accelerometer (7290A) or piezoresistive accelerometer (2262A) would suit. What are the advantages and disadvantages of capacitive and piezoresistive accelerometers (e.g., shock survival, accuracy, drift, overrange recovery time)?

Quick Tips

In this edition of Quick Tips, we will briefly discuss proper mounting considerations for accelerometers. Ideally, an accelerometer should be in direct contact with what it's trying to measure. Requirements for surface flatness, mounting torque (for screw-mounted devices) or mounting material (for adhesive-mounted devices) need to be understood and implemented to assure quality measurements.
