Did You Know
That Spirulina is approximately 3.6 billion years old?
While most of the Spirulina that you see on the shelves is harvested in controlled conditions, there are a number of places in the world where Spirulina grows naturally. One example is in Chad, where the flamingos eat the wild Spirulina all of the time, giving their feathers a vivid pink hue. Spirulina is also a popular food additive for Koi fish for the same reason - it brings out the richness of the fish's colors.
